The Garden Theater in Frankfort, Michigan does a concert once a summer, and this year they got Briscoe. The Austin two-piece is made up of Truett Heintzelman and Philip Lupton. The Garden is a classic movie theater in the center of a summer town in Northern Michigan. The crowd was small therefore, but the band responded well. They displayed their high pitched indie sound nicely, with a fairly short set. I liked “She Burns Away” a lot, a song that Philip said that he wrote for his wife (who was selling merchandise at the back of the theater). It is a song that flips a metaphor of decay and burning away on its head. The band is growing and is one to see if you like acoustic indie/americana bands like Caamp and Richy Mitch & The Coal Miners.
