Cece Coakley Live Review – October 12, 2024 – Thalia Hall, Chicago, IL

Cece Coakley is a soft rock singer songwriter from Nashville, and opened for Michigander at Thalia Hall. She sang, played the guitar, and rocked to a short set of songs she wrote. She falls in the realm of and I’m guessing draws influence from the trio from boygenius. Think independent indie bordering on pop, playing to the hearts of the distressed youth. She had a happy-go-lucky, spontaneous attitude on the stage, which fittingly set up Michigander. A new single “Bonus” encapsulated a motif of the experience of love and expectation versus reality.
